This case was taken from the experience of an entrepreneur who purchased an underfunded software company and had to determine how to keep the company going until the new production contracts are finalized and the new products have been approved by the government. Due to a delay in the critical production contract, there will not be enough cash to pay wages and expenses. Joyce has been assured that the contracts will be awarded to Image-Scan In c., but it could take 60 to 90 days. Since it appears that this is a temporary situation, Joyce must determine how to survive for the next few months. This case illustrates one of the most common problems for small entrepreneur firms, a good product, sufficient forecasted revenue, but insufficient cash to meet all obligations.
